Mayan Calendar: End of the world is a little ways off

In about 42 years the "enlightened" world of chattery will be clanging the gong of world ending.  Oddly, the people championing this premonition will be folk who don't believe in "established" religion, because they think that is all made up.

No, the image to the left is not the gong in question, but it is the Mayan calendar, made up by man, which "ends" on 21 December 2012, the same way our calendar ends on 31 December annually.
